Mikael Jarvela may only be a half shifter, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be alpha of the eastern Finland farm-turned-sanctuary his father founded. “I left my town because there was a family of tigers….”Maxim began to talk quietly.“They were…territorial.In my family there were only my parents,my younger sister,and I.They….The other pride,”Maxim said,using the word that was the cats’equivalent for the wolves’pack,“they tried to take over my father’s business.It wasn’t much,but it was big in the town.Employed lot of people,other shifters.My father wouldn’t sell,so one night they came and burned down the house where we lived.I wasn’t there.I was taking my sister to her fiancé’s house.When I got back,other pride was waiting for me,and they told me that our parents were gone and that I better run or fight….”At that point the story became obvious.


Mikael reached for Maxim’s hand and tangled their fingers together.Then he waited.


“I had to try.”Maxim’s voice was a pained whisper.“They had killed my parents,I had to try to…to avenge them.”


“Shh….”Mikael soothed the distressed tiger as best as he could.
