Chapter 9

I leaned back against him, trying my hardest not to think of how good it felt to have his muscular arms around me. Now definitely wasn’t the time to be thinking about those kinds of things.

I continued to hold my breath until my head was spinning, and my limbs began to ache with the need to move.

Booth was breathing into my ear, his breath tickling my lobe in such a way that it caused me to shiver.

That’s when Tomas’s torchlight landed on us. My heart stopped altogether as his eyes came to meet mine. He looked closely at me for a moment until recognition registered on his face.

His eyes flickered to Booth as if to do the same, and then he took a sudden step backwards.

This is it. This is where my journey ends.I thought as I waited for him to send out the alarm call that would announce to Celestria and the other man that he had located us.

Then to my amazement, he turned and began to walk away.
