Chapter 11

“Yes.”

“Then, even though I don’t really want to know, you should probably tell me. You do look like you’ve been through the wringer, and what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t lend my ear?”

I was instantly relieved to know that she still considered us friends.

Taking a deep breath, I said, “Do you mind if I at least have a shower first? I’m freezing.”

Not to mention hungry, exhausted as hell and just plain freaked out. I needed to get my thoughts together before I told her anything.

“I suppose so.” Zoe huffed, and I hurried into the bathroom, already beginning to strip off, before she could change her mind.

“Bri!” I heard her gasp as I reached the door, “What the hell happened to your back?”

Damn it! I had completely forgotten to get undressed in the bathroom to hide my marks from her.

Before I could lock the door, she burst into the bathroom and grabbed hold of my shoulders, turning me so that she could get a good view of my back, snatching my jacket and t-shirt up.
