Chapter 12

“Yeah, and the guys dug a grave for him while Celestria said some really weird stuff. That’s when she confirmed it was him.” I shivered as I remembered her words. They still didn’t make any sense to me, but whenever I thought about them, I got this really horrible feeling in my gut that said there was more to it than simple funeral words.

“What do you think she’s doing?” Zoe asked, her almond eyes round as saucers.

I was only slightly relieved that she finally seemed to believe me. A part of me wanted her to yell at me and demand that I stop talking. Maybe then I might actually believe it was all just a stupid, horrible nightmare.

“I have no idea.” I shook my head, “But I think Booth and I are going to have to figure it out on our own.”

“No, you are not!” Zoe snapped at me then, and I was surprised when she gripped hold of my hand. “You’ve got me.”
