Just when I thought that going to a new school could be a fresh start for me, I realise I couldn’t have been more wrong. Not only has my almost-boyfriend dubbed me “The Queen of Freaks,” but it turns out I’m way more powerful than anyone could have ever imagined. That would be all well and good if everything was as it should have been at the Winterwood Academy but what most people don’t know is that there’s danger inside the walls of the Academy far worse than anything we might face outside the Wardings. “We’re coming with you,” Zoe said, and the others nodded in agreement.


“Yeah, like hell, you think we’re going to let you two figure this all out without us.” Keeya was the first to touch the ground and place her hands on her hips in a way that said, ‘don’t argue with me, woman’.


Should I argue with her? What good would it do? I mean, they already knew the whole story, and five heads were definitely better than two.


“Come on then. Hurry up. I’m late enough as it is.” I gestured for them to follow me even as I began to hurry back down the path to the gates.


“What do you think C is up to?” Luci asked, falling into step beside me as we went.


“C?” I barely glanced at her, quickening my pace so that she struggled to keep up, even on her longer legs.


“You know, Celestria,” she whispered the name and looked over her shoulder as though she thought someone might be listening in.


“There’s nobody out here.” Keeya rolled her eyes at her.
