Chapter 16

I could feel my friends watching us, open-mouthed, but not a single one of them tried to step in.

“You can trust me,” I insisted. My voice was weak now, and I wasn’t even sure I would believe myself.

“No, Brianna. If I could trust you, you wouldn’t have told any of your friends,” Booth snapped at me, and when his gaze came back to mine his irises burned with anger. “I asked you not to because I knew this would happen. “Don’t you get it?” He glowered at me. “We’re all in danger now. The more people that know about this, the more dangerous it gets for all of us.” He slammed his hand into his jeans pocket then and barged past me, “I have to go.”

“Booth! Wait!” I called after him.
