Chapter 21

After quickly placing it back on the podium, I began to head back towards the door. I wasn’t sure what good it would do. It wasn’t like you couldn’t see right through it and figure out that the book was gone. Maybe I should have put another book there in its place, but what good would that do? There probably wasn’t another book like it in the whole library.

What the hell am I doing? I thought even as I slipped through the doors that opened up for me, looking this way and that just to be sure that there wasn’t anyone else around.

As soon as I was sure that the coast was clear, I hurried towards the main doors of the building and out into the courtyard.

My feet carried me swiftly towards the girls’ dorm, but before I managed to reach the doors, I heard the familiar cawing and whipped around just in time to see the raven land gracefully on the pavement.

“What the hell do you want from me?” I snapped.

I really must be going insane. Who yells at a bird?
