Chapter 20

By the end of it, I was exhausted with acting, and I was relieved when Zoe finally stood up from her perch on one of the sofas and yawned, “I think I’m going to head to bed.”

“I’ll come with you,” I told her. Obviously, I wasn’t going to go to sleep, but she didn’t need to know that. None of them did.

“Good because, no offense but, you look like crap,” Keeya told me.

I couldn’t help but smile at her. She was always one for telling the truth, and I loved her for it.

“I think we could all use a good sleep,” Luci agreed. “Why don’t we head up too?”

The look that passed between her and her girlfriend told me that they weren’t going to go to sleep either, but I thought it was better not to ask.

Zoe and I made our way up the stairs, followed closely by Keeya and Luci, who paused at the top of the stairs. Their room was at the opposite end of the hall to ours.

“See you both in the morning?” Luci asked perkily.
