Chapter 27

When she began to chant once more, I felt a white-hot blast jolt against my skin, and I was suddenly thrown back against the cushioning of the air, the wind once more knocked right out of me.What the hell just happened? My mind was fuzzy as I found myself stumbling out of Celestria’s office.

I remembered her asking me about the Winterwood Book. I even remembered my answers. But after that, everything else was a blank blur.

I tried to think further, but the more I tried, the more my head began to pound. There was a big, thick cloud of emptiness inside my head. Whenever I tried to get past it, I felt as though my entire body would shut down on me.

“Miss Winters?” The oddly familiar voice sounded close to me. “How did it go?”

My eyes fluttered as I tried to reconnect with my surroundings, and Lecturer Tomas’s face swam up into my vision.

“I...I don’t know.” I shook my head and tried to think again, but it hurt so badly I couldn’t breathe.
