“We’re doomed,” Zoe said almost as soon as they were gone. “You look like Celestria put you through hell, and there’s no way Luci is as strong as you are.”

“None of us are,” Keeya added and began to push a piece of sausage around her plate with her fork.

“She’ll be okay,” I said, but it was really more of a prayer to the Goddess. All I could do was hope that Selene was with me and my friends.

“Jeez, Bri, you even sound like crap.” Zoe cringed. “Are you alright? What happened? We heard Celestria called you out of Latin class.”

“Yeah, she did.” I nodded. “She asked me about the book, but I don’t think she got much from me.”

Zoe continued to scowl at me as though she was unsure. Her concerned expression told me that she knew how bad I was feeling.

“I think I’m going to head back to the dorm,” I said before her or Keeya could ask me any more questions.

Pushing up from my seat, I began to make my way across the room, ignoring the other students who eyed me from their tables.
