Chapter 29

“I’ll tell all of the lectures that you’re not feeling well,” Booth assured me. “You just rest, and I’ll let Zoe know to come and check on you during next break.”

Why is he being so kind to me? I thought even as I revelled in the way that he was stroking my cheek. The warmth of his fingertips against my skin made me feel better, even if it was only for a moment.

“You don’t need to do that,” I sighed even as I felt my eyelids growing heavy.

“Someone has to check up on you, and if I keep coming back here, people might get the wrong idea,” Booth pointed out, but my eyelids were already closing.

“Rest now,” he whispered to me.

I was almost sure I felt his lips press against my forehead as he added, “You’ll feel better after a good rest.”
