Chapter 39

“Are you trying to drive us crazy?” Keeya whirled on Zoe, glaring at her. “We have literally just seen her shaking Celestria’s hand along with Augustus Maxwell and all the other council members.”

“Not to get into this argument or anything, but why the hell would I be shaking Celestria’s hand?” I pointed out, and all three of the girls turned on me, their faces dropping as though my words made way too much sense.

“Then who the hell is down there?” Keeya asked, pointing at the window.

I was about to follow her finger to the view of the courtyard when Zoe beat me to it.

She leaned out of the open window, and a moment later a gasp erupted from her throat. She whipped around to face me, looking me up and down before looking out on the courtyard again.

“Okay, what the hell is going on?” she demanded. “Bri, what have you done?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” I asked as I crossed the room to join her. “I haven’t done any…”
