“Please tell me some of that’s for me.” Jake loosened his tie and sat at the counter.


His nephew looked up and grinned at him. “It’s just a snack. I’m heading out tonight, and since you’re going out, thought I’d fix us something light.” He walked over to the fridge and fetched a beer, placing a hot sandwich and the drink in front of Jake.


Matt laughed and flipped another sandwich over. “Where are you guys going tonight?”


“I’m not sure. To some fancy eatery or something.” Jake stuffed a piece of melted cheese into his mouth and chased it down with beer. “And you?”


“I just want to get out. Might go see a movie.” Matt kept his back to him as he spoke and carefully flipped the sandwich one last time.


“Just by yourself? No Lexie or Martin?”
