A fireball burning up the sky leads farmer Jason Thomas to the strangest thing he's ever found in his pumpkin patch. A man with wings. And no, he doesn't think it's an angel, no matter what his brothers say.<br><br>Taking the stranger into his home is hard. Keeping his heart from the stranger's hands? Harder. On the other hand, if he left Jason, could he return? Would Michael permit it? Surely Michael would not be so stolid in keeping him there, away from his mate, simply because there was no protocol for Castiel to be allowed on Earth. Absolutely, it was a mistake that he was here, but that meant nothing. His mate was known to him and Michael would be completely outside convention to keep him away. At least, Castiel hoped Michael would not contest standing precedent.


In the end, returning trumped even his mate. But only as long as it took to hand over his authority. If he could find a way back.


Castiel sighed and dropped his head back to thump against Set’s stall door. The horse changed direction and nuzzled through his tight black curls rooting around for who knew what, but it soothed him to be in the presence of such a happy creature. He wished Jason was so easy to deal with.


Maybe what he needed was assistance with his stubborn mate. Castiel had just the human in mind.
