Chapter 25

“Captain Thor,” Thor mused. “I do not like the sound of that somehow. It does not seem enough.”

“Use your surname then,” Iakob said, running his rough hand over Thor’s well-developed chest.

“I do not have one,” the young captain replied.

Iakob looked at him.

Thor explained, “You know I was an orphan. Most of the boys at the home where I spent my youth never knew who their parents were, so they never knew their surnames. When they left St. Bartholomew’s for life in the world they chose what name they would. I never did.”

“Choose one now then,” Iakob suggested.

“Just like that?” Thor asked. “You make everything seem so simple.”

“What is to stop you? You are the captain now. You can call yourself whatever you like.”

Thor thought for a while and then said, “I do not know. I want something that shows who I am and something that says power. What’s your surname?”
