Chapter 40

“How about we get back to business,” Theirn said. “Have you come up with any sort of plan?”

“I’m going to be hired on at Bernard’s Fine Arts as the assistant-manager,” Caiden replied.

“Yeah, Zander mentioned that when he initially talked to me about this. And the whole boyfriend thing,” Theirn said. “Then what?”

“My idea, which may or may not work, is that Caiden gets the word out that he might be willing to help someone get their hands on some of the artwork—for a price,” Zander said.

Caiden began pacing again, aware the two older elves were watching him with a bit of amusement. “That could work,” he finally said. “I…Yeah, I need money because my boyfriend had very expensive tastes and I don’t want to lose him.”

“Right, lay it all on me,” Theirn said with a small grin. “Still, that could work. But how do you let the right people know, and more importantly, how do you make sure Leander does?”

“You can’t use the ‘Valentine’s Day’ ruse,” Zander pointed out. “He’s smell a rat.”
