Caiden McNeil is a special being, a metamorph who can become any human necessary to stop the criminals his elven boss Zander sends him after.<br><br>Caiden is also a loner, unable to trust anyone on an emotional level. He has reason to feel this way: in his over eight-hundred years, he has learned that caring for someone only leads to despair. “We did it,” Theirn said, leaning back in the passenger seat, his eyes closed.


“Youdid it,” Caiden stated. “You and Gerben. I was merely an extra.” He started the car, pulled out of the parking space and they headed back to the house.


When they arrived, Theirn was dead to the world, although he did wake up long enough for Caiden to get him upstairs to his bedroom before passing out again. Caiden took his shoes off him, put the comforter up, then slipped out of the room.


And so it ends, as someone once said. Not that I expected a bang, but I hoped for some feeling of resolution.


He wasn’t certain if he meant with capturing Leander, which had fallen into place almost too easily.
