Chapter 61

“We did it,” Theirn said, leaning back in the passenger seat, his eyes closed.

“Youdid it,” Caiden stated. “You and Gerben. I was merely an extra.” He started the car, pulled out of the parking space and they headed back to the house.

When they arrived, Theirn was dead to the world, although he did wake up long enough for Caiden to get him upstairs to his bedroom before passing out again. Caiden took his shoes off him, put the comforter up, then slipped out of the room.

And so it ends, as someone once said. Not that I expected a bang, but I hoped for some feeling of resolution.

He wasn’t certain if he meant with capturing Leander, which had fallen into place almost too easily.
