“That it’s not just because of what’s happened. What’s still happening.”

Rising up to lean on one elbow, Griffin looked at Daniel. “Do you think that’s it?”

“I…No, not really.” Daniel traced Griffin’s lips with one finger. “I’m very sure we’re working on a relationship that we want to last. It’s not going to be easy, in some respects, but if we want it, it can happen.”

“It willhappen,” Griffin said firmly. “We’ll figure it out. Not this minute, though. We both need sleep.”

“Then, in the morning, we’ll decide how to deal with the bastard and get that problem out of our hair.”

“That we will,” Griffin agreed. “That, we will.” 9

“What are we going to do about Ray?” Daniel asked the next morning, over a late breakfast.

“You’re going to call him and tell him to lay off,” Griffin said.

“Uh-huh. Like that’ll work. He’ll laugh, tell me I’m crazy if I think he’s trying to do something to me then, two days from now, he’ll try again.”
