Chapter 37

“If he isaround, how will we know?” Daniel said as they took off.

“We probably won’t. He’s not going to come walking up to us. We’ll do grocery shopping. Yeah, that should work. It reinforces that you’re staying with me and we need more provisions.”

“Then hope he tails us back here.”

“Exactly. We’ll stop at the house, too. Is there something there you forgot to bring with you?”

“That will fit in the trunk, since the things I packed up yesterday are still in it?”

“There is that.”

“If he was watching yesterday, that must have pushed his last button—really sending him over the edge.” Daniel thought for a moment. “It doesn’t matter what I put in a box, since he won’t be able to see inside.”

“True.”

When they got to town, Daniel parked on the main street, in front of the grocery store. “Let’s go to lunch first.”

“We just ate.”

“We know that, but Ray doesn’t. It’s almost lunch time and if we can get a window table, it will make us very visible.”
