Chapter 57

“I have some business to attend this morning. I’ll get breakfast on my own and then I’d like you to meet me at the zoo at eleven,” Raphael instructed. “Do I need to muss the bed or will you take care of that?”

“I’ll tell her you’ll make your own bed,” Leander said.

“Right then, I’ll see you later.” Raphael’s words didn’t sound like a request.

Leander tried to work on his sermon, but was distracted. For as much as Raphael allowed himself to relax and rest, he couldn’t help but feel Raphael was holding something back from him. Physically, neither one of them had held anything back last night. Spiritually, there was something bothering Raphael. There had been a time when Leander would have driven himself crazy trying to figure Raphael out, but not anymore. As much as he wanted this to be the beginning of a new era in his life, a time that might include Raphael, he knew it wouldn’t.
