Armand hugged him. “Nor I, you. So there is a positive side to what happened—and to my managing to survive until now.”

The pair did have disagreements; including one major argument a week after the purchase of the buildings had been finalized. Tino arrived at Armand’s house, intending to suggest that it was time for them to start looking at the possible places for the teen shelters. When he did, Armand shook his head.

“Let’s get finished with what we’re doing now. Then we’ll attack the shelter problem.”

“By then, it will be winter, damn it,” Tino had replied angrily. “From what I’ve heard, they can be brutal around here. How many kids will die because we didn’t help them?”
