“Of course I would have.” Werner shot him a disgusted look. “But knowing it was a vampire made things more imperative. As with all of us, I don’t condone strange ones hunting in my territory. Unfortunately, he sensed my approach and vanished before I could stop him. I wiped the woman’s memory of what had happened, as well as suggesting she shouldn’t go wandering around in her rather inebriated condition without an escort.”

“Nice of you,” Tino said sarcastically.

“Before you two come to blows,” Armand said with a bit of a smile, “Werner, did you get a look at him?”

“Yes. He’s young, both in looks and in age. I’d say barely a Young Adult from the sense of him, making him between one hundred and two-fifty. He looks, maybe eighteen to twenty, with fair hair. More Fred’s color than mine. I’d guess he’s close to six foot, and he was dressed in old jeans and a tattered winter jacket.”

“Like a street kid?” Tino asked, getting a bad feeling.
