Chapter 25

“You like what, Luke?” Finn asked quietly.

“I like being with you. Around you. You make me feel like a real person, not an…an acquisition. If that makes sense.”

“That’s how you feel with Jourdain, isn’t it?”

“Yeah.” Luke blew out a long breath. “I know, the next time I see him, he’s going to want to know where I was last night. Like he owns me, or something.”

Which is exactly what he wants. Finn got up, going to stand beside Luke at the window. He put his arm around Luke’s waist, wondering if he’d pull away. Luke started to, looking at him in surprise, then slowly relaxed. When he had, Finn said, “I’ll be there. In case.”

“In case? Do you think…?” Luke shivered.

“From all you’ve said, I think he’s obsessed with you.” I know he is, but I’m not telling Luke that—or why he is.“I doubt he’ll do anything physical. But if we’re right, he tried to follow us after I picked you up from your class last night. I’m surprised he wasn’t down by the bridge, when I dropped you off.”
