“No. Jeez. Going outside. What if Jourdain’s out there somewhere?”
Finn put his hands on Luke’s shoulders as he replied, “Trust me. There is no way he knows where we are.”
“You’re sure?”
“Yes, Luke, I’m very sure.” Finn kissed his forehead. “So stop worrying. Okay?”
Luke looked at him and nodded. “Okay.” He had a sudden desire to kiss Finn, repressing it because now wasn’t the time. There probably never will be a time, but I can dream. At least, if he really is interested in me, he not being pushy about it. Not like Jourdain. Damn, how could I have been so stupid?
“What’s going through that mind of yours?” Finn asked, squeezing Luke’s shoulder.
“I was wondering how I let myself believe Jourdain cared about me.”
“Because he does, in his own crazy way. I have no doubt he cared about Kelan as well. Otherwise he wouldn’t have turned him to keep him by his side. I suppose it’s what he considers love. Making his…victim want him forever.”
