Finn’s eyes glistened with tears. “My brother is in a safe place, now. There’s no bringing him back, of course. He is Jourdain’s Child. And quite insane, because I took him from Jourdain before the turning was completed. But he’s alive, as much as any vampire is.”
Luke went to kneel in front of Finn, wrapping his arms around him. “What can we do?” he asked, his words barely above a whisper. “How can we stop Jourdain before he finds another victim?”
“I don’t know,” Finn admitted angrily. “I’m older now. I might be able to take him on and win. But I’m not going to risk your life to do it.”
Sitting back on his heels, Luke looked up at Finn. “You need me, to lure him out.”
“So you do believe me,” Finn replied.
