Chapter 52

“There’s at least one good chocolate sauce in this one,” said Kiko, ringing up the purchase and trying not to make himself cringe. Martha cackled with glee. Kiko pulled out his phone the moment she left.

I know too much about Martha and Buddy’s sex life now, he sent. Dom responded almost immediately.

Don’t want to know.

Hollandaise sauce, sent Kiko.

No, replied Dom, then after a minute, looked it up. Didn’t need to know.

Kiko stifled a laugh to not upset the mother and two children traipsing through the coloring books and chalk.

Martha and Buddy were at her home cooking last night.

Or so she says, sent Dom. Want me to go to Karen’s funeral?

Kiko blinked. Martha had made him forget about that, but now he was jealous he couldn’t be there. Funerals were supposed to be a good place to tease out information.

Yes, he typed. And tell me everything.
