“You’re like, the detective guy, right?” he asked as Dom backed out.

“Sherlock Holmes,” said Dom, but Chad was already turning to Kiko.

“Boss, what are you? Like the Peanut Guy?”

Lucy’s Pumpkins was out near the apple orchard and Owen’s place, and it was easy for Kiko to direct Dom there. Every year the woman held a Drunk-O-Lantern event, where she stocked up on cheap wine and discount snacks from Gord’s, and extended an open invitation for everyone in Mount Angus to come over, carve up the unsold pumpkins in the field, and get drunk. Lucy had to be seventy now but she seemed ageless to Kiko; he could remember going to Drunk-O-Lanterns with his mother, father, and sister in high school.
