With breakfast over and chatter continuing between us, Timber tried to pull me into his arms and kiss me on the sofa, but I pushed him away.
I whispered, “No. This can’t happen.”
“You’re mine. Remember that. You promised me that you would always be mine back in March. I don’t like it when a man doesn’t keep his promises.”
I shook my head, no longer needing the coffee. “I was on peyote. It didn’t count. You drugged me.”
He chuckled. “You agreed to our Winter Trial. We were all on peyote, asking forgiveness to our Great Bear in the heavens for protection from the cold and wellness in the upcoming spring.”
