Chapter 48

“Let me try one stitch. Maybe this edge one. It looks a little janky.” Felix bent close to Ronan’s palm. With a shaking hand, he crept closer to the stitch in question with a sharp pair of tiny scissors.

He had almost made contact with the stitch’s tiny knot when Ronan flexed his palm and yelled, “Yeouch!”

Felix leapt back as though electrocuted, flinging the scissors off somewhere in the kitchen. He clutched at his chest and said breathlessly, “Don’t do that, you fucker!”

Ronan seemed quite pleased with himself. “That never gets old.”

The search for the scissors didn’t last long and after they were washed off at the sink, Felix sat back in his original spot. “I jumped because I was scared I hurt your stupid ass.”

“Aw. I didn’t know you cared,” Ronan said, his voice lower and quieter.

“You know I care,” Felix said. Why the fuck did I say that?
