“Are you saying what I think you’re saying?” Rain leaned back, watching him closely.
“Yes…let’s accept your sister’s generous offer and trust each other to make it work. Let’s just be a family, Rain. All of us. In our own way. To hell with conventionality. This is who we are.”
Rain cuddled up against him and drew Tristan’s hand over his waist. “I love you,” he whispered. “Thank you. God, thank you so much. I needed this talk. Have been waiting for it.”
“It feels so good to be close to you. To let you in.”
Holding Rain against him, Tristan understood that there was a place inside him he’d neglected for too long, but with a touch of Rain, that dry soil inside his own heart would come to life again.
Trust could grow there now.
