“Does it bother you, still being here?” I asked Jon.

He smiled, hugging Brody. “It probably would if I didn’t have him.”

“You’re lucky,” I said as a wave of longing washed over me. “If I have to stick around, and who knows if I will, I won’t have anyone.” I had a horrible thought. “Unless the bastard goes after David. We have to stop him before he can! As much as I miss him, I don’t want him with me again because he’s dead.”

“Mike will catch the murderer,” Jon replied confidently. A confidence I didn’t feel right then. It could be anyone at the theater—and that was a lot of people.

“He will,” Brody said, agreeing with Jon. “One thing he’s going to want to know, Tonio. Are there any people in the company who might be pissed off at someone else?”
