“I think wereis the right description, now,” Gage said. “Too much of what Mason told us seems to have been lies, if we’re going to believe you. I do.”
“Thank you.” Ash looked at Kegan.
“I…” Kegan made a decision. One he hoped he wouldn’t regret in the days to come. “Yes. I believe you, as well. That being said, what’s on the second drive?”
“Conversations between Patterson and various people we, you and I, should be dealing with.”
“What sort of conversations?” Gage asked.
“Betrayals,” Ash replied tightly. He opened the bag sitting beside his chair, taking out a laptop and an external hard drive about the size of a cigarette pack. After booting up the laptop, he used a USB cord to connect the drive to the laptop. “Listen, and learn. You, especially, Kegan.”
Kegan frowned, wondering where this was going.
The first voice wasn’t one he recognized. The man said, “I need the information he’s got and, I want him eliminated, Patterson. With nothing coming back on me.”
