“Yeah. Patterson might be running the Agency, but from the sound of it, someone else is running him.”
“You’re right,” Ash agreed. “He says, ‘I’ll have to talk to somebody first. He might not like the idea’.”
“We need to find out who that is,” Kegan said.
“It won’t be easy,” Gage replied before asking Ash to continue running through Patterson’s conversations, “In case we missed another reference to whoever’s controlling him.”
By the time the recording came to an end, they were no wiser about who Patterson’s Control, as Gage deemed him, was.
“Guess we’ll have to ask Patterson before we kill him,” Ash said with a wicked grin.
“No kidding,” Gage replied.
“He’s the last on our list, though,” Kegan put in. “First Mason, then the other two, then him. Let him feel some of the fear he’s brought to other people, as he wonders who has gone rogue within the Agency and when it will be his turn.”
