“Agreed. But it’s too late for us to do anything about it. Vincent…Have you met him?” Kegan nodded. “Vincent’s begun the process of cleaning out the rats’ nest Patterson left behind, with the help of most of the Agency’s other handlers.”


“So at least we accomplished something.”


“Damn it, Kegan. Yes, we did. More than something. We brought Patterson and his slimy partners down.”


“What part of he’s holding his owndon’t you get? He’s alive. We all are. In time the three of us will be doing what we do best, stopping the fucking bastards who need…” Gage turned when he heard the door open. “Sorry for the language,” he said to the nurse.


“It’s okay. Not like I haven’t heard it before,” she replied, coming over to the bed. She checked the monitors and the IV tubes, telling Kegan everything looked good. “By the way, you might like to know Mr. Shaw is awake.”


“Thank God,” Kegan whispered. “Is he…? Can we…?”
