“I think everyone overdoes it this time of year,” she said. “Mount Angus is just crawling with matchmakers for Valentine’s Day and everyone wants to know about everyone else—”
“Including you,” said Elena as Kiko walked back in and sat. “I’ve seen you asking around.”
Katie shrugged, guilty expression on her face.
“I amreally curious about some people.” She paused, grinning at Kiko. “But you know, I think the two of you make a very cute couple.”
“Katie,” said Kiko, cool warning in his voice.
“Oh, please,” she said. “Hasn’t your mother at least asked if you’re ever getting married?”
“And that’s between us,” said Kiko. Dom watched him take a large gulp of wine.
“What a great way to push back at a day you hate,” said Elena, apparently enjoying teasing Kiko. “Get engaged anyway!”
“You could even skip the Heartstival and go to the courthouse,” said Katie. “Imagine showing up married!”
