Chapter 51

Every Mount Angus business seemed to be represented here. Dom saw Pasta la Vista with a table full of coupons but no food, and the Dill Pickle bar with its young owner, Dill, sitting behind it and squinting through his glasses at the labels on jars of heart-shaped pickles. Joylove Antiques was full of strange items for the holiday, and even Gord’s, the grocery store, had a table. Dom considered, but he wanted to bring Kiko something a little more substantial than a granola bar.

He followed his nose to the back of the gym where the concessions area was and saw that there were breakfast options available, mainly pancakes, eggs, and sausage. He bought a couple plates, noting that they’d have hot dogs and brats later and smiling to himself. By the end of the day, Kiko would be very annoyed with Dom for making him eat. Good. Then they could talk.
