Chapter 39

New clients emerged out of the woodwork: Kathy and Natalie Dixonfield. A freshly married couple who told me again and again, “The apartment we’re currently sharing is just too small for us. I’m sure you can find the perfect cottage-like house for us.”

Kathy kept me on my toes, somewhat troublesome and always hyper. One of her questions led into ten more, which I found unproductive and tiresome. Natalie, her pretty partner in girlish pigtails, a Democratic campaign manager regarding local politics, unleashed all her goodness and kindness on me, making our threesome palatable. In the end, the couple wanted a house that was seventeen-hundred square feet on a half-acre of land so Kathy could garden and have small, outdoor parties in the spring and summer months.
