“I’m going to try.” He took a deep breath. “The first step is—” His cell rang before he could finish what he was going to say. “This will not be fun,” he muttered as he took it from his pocket. “It’s my father.” A moment later, he said, “Who didn’t even have the decency to talk. He sent me a text.”
