Chapter 36

Kirk was sitting on the edge of the bed, having pulled back the covers. He immediately got up so Tony could lie down, and then pulled the covers over him before sitting again.

“Your eyes are at half-mast,” Kirk teased, taking Tony’s glasses and setting them on the nightstand.

“About to be no-mast.” Tony yawned.

Kirk smiled, brushing a stand of hair off Tony’s forehead. “I’m not sure that’s a real word, but it works for me.” He leaned over to kiss Tony, smiling again when he realized he was already asleep. Getting up, he turned out the light before going into the living room. He turned on the TV, found a news channel, and sprawled on the sofa to watch. The story about the capture of what the reporter dubbed ‘The Elevator Killer’ was still a lead item, including a shot of Kirk and Tony as they left the hospital. The reporters hadn’t been able to accost them because he and Tony had made relatively quick work of getting into the car and driving away before they got to it.
