Rescued

“Thanks for taking good care of my Coop,” Colt whispered in Dean’s ear. His breath was a gentle warm breeze that brought out the goose bumps on Dean’s arms.


Dean’s heart started to race, and his palms got clammy. “Are you kidding? He took care of me. He’s a great kid and so damn helpful.”


Coop beamed, and Dean noticed tears streaming on Coop’s face. Dean knew this was a rare occurrence, like the bear attacking, but he knew how glad Coop was to have his uncle back and to know he was otherwise safe.


“Well, it looks like they have some work to do on me here, if you all want to head back home. I didn’t realize with my suit on how bad the wounds were.”


Dean laughed. “We are staying right here with you.”


“How’s Mikey and Kip?” Coop asked in a small voice.
