Chapter 52

He smiled. “I am, too.”

Morgan followed her instructions on how to find James’ office. He climbed the stairs and found himself in a long, dimly-lighted hallway. There were several doors on either side. None of them were marked as to what or who lay behind. He stood in the middle of the hall, one hand on his hip, the other running through his hair, wondering what to do. I should have asked for more specific directions. I don’t want to just knock on every door until I find him.

Morgan paced the hall. He was becoming agitated. He needed to find James. But maybe James wasn’t even here. Maybe he should go back to the carver’s shop. Maybe James was there. Maybe Miriam or Sarah would know where he could be found. Maybe he was back in the house for lunch. At least someone might know which office was James’. He decided that was the best course of action and turned abruptly to leave. James appeared at the head of the stairs at that moment. The two men collided with each other.
