Chapter 66

Morgan walked to the sleeping mat and sat down on it. He took a deep breath. He tried to concentrate on the purpose of the quest—to determine if his desire to champion his people was his primary motivation and not his desire to be with James. But how will I come to know that serving the clan is more important to me than having James in my life? he asked himself.

A life with James had become very important to him, equally as important as serving the People, if not more so. With that thought, a wave of frustration washed over him. Why couldn’t his love and commitment to James be as vital to securing the gifts of the Wolf Spirit as desire to serve the clan? Wouldn’t their love and support of one another help in their task? Why did one have to supersede the other?
