Chapter 67

“But, Oran’s old.”

“You know he—”

“What?”

Eli opened his mouth and then hesitated. This wasn’t the right time to talk about Oran. He wanted to, but he choked back his emotions. Before he finished gathering his thoughts, Josh came through the café door, and spotted Sully and Eli right away. As Josh took a seat at the table, Eli whispered, “Hey. Did Adam ask about the ankle again?”

“Nope. Not since the taxi ride over to his apartment. He seems to have accepted that my ankle got better overnight.” Josh opened the bag that Eli placed on the table. “Good you have at least one croissant for Adam. I still have to get him coffee.” Josh took a bite out of a bagel. “What were you guys talking about?”

“Eli’s powers. What he can’t and can do,” Sully said. “Is Adam over the shock of you?”

“I don’t know. I think so. But I can’t be sure. He said we should be honest with each other from now on, which makes me think he’s still mad at us for not telling him who we were from the beginning.”
