Chapter 53

“Lie down,” he said, finally, rising to his feet. He didn’t meet Lew’s eyes. He wouldn’t be able to go if he did. “Lie down. You need to sleep.”

Lew looked up at him, also clearly struggling to get himself under control. Alec stepped forward and raised the blankets, still not looking at him.

“Get in, Lew. Get into bed and get some sleep. We’ll talk about it in the morning. All of it.”

Again, Lew started, “I…” and then stopped himself, biting that lip again. “I want…Alec.” He was incoherent. Much the same as Alec, actually. Alec eventually lost patience and pushed him gently backwards with a hand in the middle of his chest. He lifted his bare feet up on to the bed as well and dropped the blankets and sheet and quilt over him, safely tucking him away out of temptation.

“Go to sleep.” He reached out and swept that damned elf-lock away again, out of his eyes. “You can’t do anything more tonight and you’re dead on your feet. I’ll see you in the morning.”
