Chapter 44

“No problem. I’ve got a hitch, so I’ll just rent a small trailer. That’s better anyway. My car would’ve been overstuffed.”

“Cool. So, Saturday?”

“Friday, if that’s okay. I’ll get everything loaded the night before so I can take off early. Be there about the time you get out of work?”

“Sounds like a plan,” I said.

“See you then,” Wes added.

After hanging up, I said, “I figure we can fit the books that are in your headboard shelf on some of theoverhead space in the closet. I don’t think we can squeeze both the dresser and the desk into my room, though.”

“We can shove this table to the side and fit it over there.” He inclined his head toward the dining area. That would work. The dining alcove was oblong, and the desk could go on a short wall if we offset the table.

I nodded as Wes flipped on the blender and removed the last of the corn cakes from the griddle. “Yeah, we can do that.”
