Since when had she been interested in dating? I had always assumed she would never look at another man as much as she’d loved my dad and mourned him. And I was honest with myself, thank you very much. Well, at least I was now. Was I such a burden to her? Seriously, Sara Yoo could be frustrating.

I set the phone on the bedside table and stripped to my boxers and undershirt before collapsing in bed, to fall asleep dreaming of bright copper hair and my mother chasing me with a spreadsheet in hand.

Camelia walked into the conference room on Monday morning at eleven-thirty, followed by the two senior partners and Bill Finnigan, managing partner of the firm. They stood behind the podium while the juniorpartners, managers, and the rest of the staff settled into their seats. I sat at the back near the door since I was barely awake and coffee hadn’t revived me yet.
