“Far from it. Enlightened self-interest, if anything.” His grin was enticing, and it floored me that someone as cool and together as Lindsey would even consider hanging out with me in any way. Perhaps I wasn’t such a lost cause? “So, where should we start?”

“We? Didn’t you come here for a reason?”

He smiled. “Sure. I needed some frozen fruit and ice cream for milkshake night. Lisa and I do this every Friday unless she’s busy with school or has to study, and she doesn’t have to work, usually. This week, we plan to watch back to back episodes of Gotham and Game of Thrones.”

“I see,” I replied, not knowing what he was talking about since I didn’t watch T.V. that often.

“But now, I’m going to help you shop since you’re likely new at this casual, cook-for-yourself kind of thing, huh?” The crinkle at the corner of his eyes told me he was teasing.

I blushed. “Yeah, kinda.”

“Cool.” He patted me on the back. “Let’s check out some clothing and see what we come up with.”
