Chapter 39

The scanner flashed green as it read his palm, and then beeped into a yellow screen with numeric buttons. It was almost muscle memory to input the six-digit code. The touch screen changed to green again, but then blared out a rude sound of failure. John slapped the damned thing. When he lifted his eyes to Jason, the panic he felt churning his stomach was plain. “It’s not working.”

“Shit,” Jason grumbled. Tools moved past the window. His lover must have popped open his equipment bag. The groan from Jason made the hairs stand on the back of John’s neck. “I’ve got nothing in here to fix the problem.”

John was tempted to echo Jason’s expletive. Now what the fuck were they going to do? “How long will it take to fix the airlock?”
