Chapter 71

Sommar let go of the net and splashed into the water. The trap bounced up and Sartin slammed into the bottom as it settled. Another explosion sounded, but its snare missed Sommar as he swam away.

The net ascended to the top of the wooden whale. When the land people came into sight, Sartin sounded his distress signal. Unlike Maru and the rest of the tribe, this group of lighter-skinned land people continued their task of reeling Sartin in.

The men grabbed at the net and pulled it over the deck of the wooden whale. Sartin rested, waiting for another opportunity to escape. He came face to face with the land people. They had something growing out of their ears.
