Horseplay

This time there was no denying the heat that flushed his cheeks. Did everyone know how he felt? Had it even been evident to Cindy? Perhaps the more pressing question was why didn’t Seth say anything about the kids? Derrick experienced a sickening flip-flip sensation in his stomach. What if it had been horrible? What if Seth hadn’t cared for the way it felt; which wasn’t entirely fair since he’d been ambushed? Or even worse, what if there were no sparks?


Turning back to the task at hand, Derrick tried to reclaim the peace and serenity he’d possessed just moments ago. But it was long gone, his mind now plagued with new scenarios and questions and the contemplation that he might need to avoid the barn for a few days.
